Text level work: Explore Narrative Order.
 Reading comprehension skills
  • Understand how settings influence events in stories.
  • Identifying main and recurring characters, evaluate their behaviour and justify views.
  • Prepare poems for recital.
  • Identify different types of text and its main features: letters, articles.
  • Understand and use the terms fact and opinion.
 Writing skills
  • Write openings to stories focussing on language to create effects.(similes)
  • Write a story plan for a traditional tale, substituting different characters, changing the setting or the ending.
  • Write a simple play script based on own reading and oral work.
  • Write different types of text: book reviews for a specified audience, letters and newspaper articles.

Sentence level work
 Word order: Sentence construction and punctuation: changing a statement into a question, a positive statement into a negative.
 Revision on comparisons, using similes.

Word level work
 Grammar: Work on verb tenses, revise work on adjectives and pronouns. Identify adverbs.
 Key words.
 Make use of thesaurus to work on synonyms.

OUTPUT:
Writing down a newspaper article.
 Acting out a role play.
 Making an oral presentation.
 Practice on British Tests: letter, book review, story.

READINGS:
 1ST TERM: "A bad spell for a Worst Witch".
 2ND TERM: Newspaper articles, non-fiction texts.
